THE BUTTERLIES ARE READY TO "FLY!"

And it's about daggone time too! The "Butterflies" meaning the "quilt" that my friend Sue and I made together for a "special someone" who is living life with Crohn's Disease. It was made in memory of our Daughter, Michelle (Micki) and in honor of Sue's Dad and Dear Sis, who are both dealing with Crohn's every day. It was supposed to be our project for 2009! I appliqued the "butterfiles" and Sue did all the piecing ... all within schedule! Then when it landed back on my doorstep, I was to do the "quilting" and the "binding;" and I am sooooooo ashamed that it took me so long! My only excuse is that "life" gets in the way sometimes; but all is OK now cuz it's a done deal :)

As hard as I try, I can't "drive" my machine around shapes! Well, I can, but the lines won't be straight, so I opted to do some small "stippling" around the butterflies w/some "doodling" in the pieced blocks. Once a "doodler," always a "doodler!"

Thanks so much Sue! You did a lovely job my dear :)

ANOTHER "UFO" BITES THE DUST :)

Love marking UFO's off my list! Now that the Holidays are behind us, I'm in major "UFO mode!" I've got about a zillion and one new projects floating around in my head; but I knew I needed to complete a few things before venturing into yet another "something new," so here's my first finish for "Twenty Ten" ... the "Noah's Ark Quilt :)"

..... with some close ups of some of my "doodling" a/k/a "queeelting!"

Now onto the next "finish!"

"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." (John 14:1-3)

I'M A PROUD AUNT!

And who has made me soooooooo proud today??? Well, we've got a total of 17 Nieces and Nephews and they are each and everyone precious to us ... but today's honors go to Mandy! Our Niece who has always been "so grown up" and who is now exactly that ... "all grown up!" She has just gone and thrilled me to no end by taking up sewing. Her future In-Law's gave her the "gift that keeps on giving" for Christmas ... her very first sewing machine; and would you look at what she's already created!!!

Isn't it adorable! Don'tcha just love the fabrics she choose!

And would you look at her "quilting stitches!" Aren't they absolutely wonderful and so original!

Yep, I'm just so daggoned proud of you Mandy, and to think that someone I love might just love doing what I love doing thrills me to no end, so keep sewing sweetie :) We love you!

IT'S COLD DOWN SOUTH!!!!

And I mean "cold!" Very, very cold ... at least by South Florida standards, that is! So cold, we're supposed to dip down into the 30's tonight and I even heard someone mention the possibility of "snow flurries!" We've been in FL for 30 years, and "snow flurries" isn't something we've seen down here before! That would definitely be a first! I do love the snow tho ... the thoughts of it and a roaring fire always sounds soooooooo delicious to me; and it's always such a pleasure when I get to pull out some scrumptious winter clothes, so needless to say, I'm enjoying this little cold snap quite immensely :)

I've also always loved "Snowmen and woman :)" About 15 years ago, I made about 10 sets of these little guys ..............

........... and they always make me smile :) The pattern came from my Dear Mother-in-Law, Virginia, who made all us kids a set. Unfortunately, our big monstrous, totally uncontrollable, yet lovable mut, Marshall, ate ours many years ago, so these are the replacements I made. He's quite lucky he surived that day cuz I was sooooooooo upset! Anyway, you start out with an empty can and just build the snowman around it with a thick batting type fabric. A fun little something to work on :)

Hope everyone's New Year is off to a good start; and if it's "cold" where you are, bundle up in a quilt and stay warm :)
