And it's about daggone time too! The "Butterflies" meaning the "quilt" that my friend Sue and I made together for a "special someone" who is living life with Crohn's Disease. It was made in memory of our Daughter, Michelle (Micki) and in honor of Sue's Dad and Dear Sis, who are both dealing with Crohn's every day. It was supposed to be our project for 2009! I appliqued the "butterfiles" and Sue did all the piecing ... all within schedule! Then when it landed back on my doorstep, I was to do the "quilting" and the "binding;" and I am sooooooo ashamed that it took me so long! My only excuse is that "life" gets in the way sometimes; but all is OK now cuz it's a done deal :)
As hard as I try, I can't "drive" my machine around shapes! Well, I can, but the lines won't be straight, so I opted to do some small "stippling" around the butterflies w/some "doodling" in the pieced blocks. Once a "doodler," always a "doodler!"
Thanks so much Sue! You did a lovely job my dear :)

Beautiful quilt! Your doodling is gorgeous. I know your friend will love the quilt.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I have shared this with you...Jennifer my youngest daughter has Crohn's Disease. She was diagnosed in 2000 while in her freshman year of college. She has treatments of Remicade every 6 weeks. I know it is a terrible disease to live with every day. Blessings to you for making the quilt in memory of your Micki.
Big Hugs,
Donna
Dear Jan,
ReplyDeleteI am answering your sweet comment you left on my blog yesterday! I am so thankful for all my sisters that have given their lives and marriages to our LORD. His Word is True and Life, and we can trust Him for all things.
Your and Sue's quilt is absolutely beautiful! You can be very proud of it, and the friendship between you is wonderful. I will pray for Sue's dad and sister.
I look at Micki's picture with her dad, and I see one of the most beautiful daughters I've seen. I am sure you must miss her every single day. Our hope is that in Christ we will be reunited. Life and death come daily to people all around the world, and so we know that this life is but short and we will be reunited. My only understanding which is very weak, is that in 2007 my daughter lost a full term health baby boy.
Quilting sure is great for keeping us focused on something fun and fulfilling thought!!! God bless you and hubby. Pray for 2 of my granddaughters, Claire 2 and Gwynie 4 have strep throat and Claire has pneumonia. Thanks!
Thank you for visiting my blog this morning. It is a treat to have you leave comments and cheer me on to working on my UFO's, and to know that we are working on them together.
ReplyDeleteLove your music!
Hi Jan! What a great quilt! ....and how nice to make it for someone dealing with Crohn's. We (our family) has recently been thrown into dealing with it too .... just 3 weeks ago, my sweet 19 year old son, Matt was diagnosed with Crohn's (this after 2 different long ER visits thinking he was having an appendicitis). He's been doing well and only missed the first day back of college classes after the Christmas break.... we are hoping and praying he only has a mild case and that it doesn't interfere with his college life. He has a follow up visit this Monday with the GI guy (as he refers to him as).
ReplyDeleteOn a more fun note ..... come for a blog visit !!! I'm having a give away as part of the One World One Heart blog event !
xoxo,
Mary Anne
So pretty. I love the color combination. And the design.
ReplyDeleteWell it is a work of art, beautifully stunning. I know what you mean about driving your machine. That is such a good way to describe it. Quilting and piecing are both lovely in this.
